So on that Saturday we get up get our bathing suits on and get ready for the lake. Ansley was so excited. She kept saying she wanted to go to the beach. The lake was about an hour away. We pull up the directions on our phone, and head that way. The whole time Kip had been getting texts from some guys in his class that they were there and waiting on us. So....after an hour of winding roads up the mountains we come to this what, I guess, the locals consider a lake. Kip and I both just died with laughter. I could not believe that it was going to cost $300 to rent a boat to just pretty much ride in a circle. It reminded me of my great grandparents pond that we use to go fishing in. Needless to say it was not very big. We rode around looking for the people from Kip's class. And we rode and looked some more and some more...probably for a good 45 mins. We did not have cell service in order to call and find out where they were. Finally Kip decides he was going to ask in the little small shop if anyone had rented a boat. He comes back from the store with this big grin on his face. I thought...OH NO!!! I bet we are at the wrong place. Sure enough we were at the wrong lake. Then I thought, well good, at least there is hope to a larger lake. I'm thinking Lake Martin or Lake Guntersville. Well after another hour drive we made it to the right lake. Again to our disappointment the lake was more like a pond. I could not believe that you could rent boats here either!! You could see every bit of the lake no matter where you stood. We ended up not riding on the boat, and just going to an area that they called the beach. It was pretty gross. The water was freezing, but Ansley was pretty adamant about getting in and washing her shoes off. She would only get her feet wet though. So...we (when I say we, I really mean Kip) sucked up our (his) fear of germs and we made the most of it. Ansley had a great time, and we are glad we went! However, I do not believe we will go back. The drive and the view around the lake was beautiful!!

Weekend at the Lake
A couple of weeks ago, Kip tells me that some people from his class are going to the lake, and they wanted to know if we wanted to come. My first thought was...a lake around here, WOW!! Sure, I said that would be fun and different. He tells me that we will be renting a boat. I thought, well, if we are renting a boat it must be a pretty big lake.
So on that Saturday we get up get our bathing suits on and get ready for the lake. Ansley was so excited. She kept saying she wanted to go to the beach. The lake was about an hour away.
